Life's Treasures

Best Friends
By: alex

I promise to love you
When your jokes are not funny.
I promise to love you
When you have no money.

I promise to love you
When you're sick and all snotty.
I promise to love you
When you're angry and grotty.

I promise to love you
When you're drunk and unruly.
I promise to love you
When you're hung over and drooly.

And I promise to love you
When you drive me 'round the bend.
I promise to love you
Because you are my best friend!

Reltionship with God

I believe that we all have different perspectives on different aspects of life. In the aspect of religion, I would just usually not make a word about my views about it. I go to church but not very often, because I don’t really feel any connection with the said greater one. I could actually call myself an atheist because of this.
I can’t feel this feeling that others have when they are not able to go to church such s fear and guilt. I only go to church when I am forced to do so by my parents.
I believe that certain things happen because of the actions you have committed earlier and not because God has it all planned for you. If it was planned for you already, why do you have to work for it?
Sciences have nothing to do with the reason of why I don’t believe that there is a greater one. I guess it’s just because I don’t feel his presence. I sometimes even think that all these rituals done by different religions are just plain weird. Once, I wanted to feel and believe the existence of God, so I tried it and tried it then tried it again, but there was just nothing.
I have prayed before but I came to notice that the more I pray the more that I lost my faith with what I believed before. After my prayer would just come another day then I would pray again then here comes another day. Another day is said to be a gift but for me, you would still be alive tomorrow because of what you did to take care of yourself yesterday. Every day would still be the same as yesterday. Even if I don’t go to church, everything is still the same.
I still respect religion even if I am this way though, because it is what that keeps our society civilized and organized. It's not bad to be religious and it’s also not bad to be an atheist as long as you know how to respect and live in peace with other people.

Me and My Family

Some would try to surpass their family’s expectations because they see it as a need. Although for me, it’s just my simple way of showing how I value my family. I don’t usually say that I do value them because for me it’s just weird but I show it a lot through my actions. Following their rules and regulations, getting good grades and maintaining it doesn’t cover half of how much I regard our family. I even exceed my own expectations just to show them how I value them. I would also always hold our family name, in the best situations and the worst ones. I know it’s weird that I don’t say that I value my family but that’s just the way I am… that’s just the way our family is.

Expanded Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

Question #1
Why did the producer of the video use the expanded version of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs?
-The producer of the video used the expanded version of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs to explain to us what this hierarchy is all about. You will not be able to truly understand a certain thing if you would not dig in to it deeper.

Question #2
Why did the producer show statistics about people who truly achieved the certain level of the hierarchy?
-The producer gave certain percentages to show that not all of us could possibly achieve a certain level and you cannot move on or skip this level if you are not going to complete it.

Self-esteem, Inner Confidence, Self Talk

We think of ourselves too critically. That is what I have came to realize. We tend to look at the negative sides of ourselves forgetting that we still have that something positive with us. This “something positive” is what other people tend to see and we ourselves don’t because we keep on focusing on the negative making us think that we are inferior to others. We want to be this and that. What we don’t know is that we are already what we want to be in the eyes of others. The truth is that no one is really inferior. It is only all in our heads.
